چکیده

In the analysis of speech production, glottal inverse filtering has proved to be an effective yet non-invasive method for obtaining information about the voice source. One of the main challenges of the existing methods is blind estimation of the contribution of the lip radiation, which must often be manually determined. To obtain a fully automatic system, we propose an automatic method for determining the lip radiation parameter. Our method is based on a physically-motivated quality criteria for the glottal flow, which can be approximated by minimization of the norm1. Experiments show that the parameters obtained by the automatic method are mostly within the 95% confidence intervals of the mean values obtained by manual tuning by experts.

Automatic Glottal Inverse Filtering with Non-Negative Matrix Factorization

This study presents an automatic glottal inverse filtering (GIF) technique based on separating the effect of the glottal main excitation from the impulse response of the vocal tract. The proposed method is based on a non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) based decomposition of an ultra short-term spectrogram of the analyzed signal. Unlike other state-of-theart GIF techniques, the proposed met...

Glottal inverse filtering based on quadratic programming

This study presents a novel quadratic programming based approach to glottal inverse filtering. The proposed method aims to jointly model the effect of the vocal tract and lip radiation with a single filter whose coefficients are optimized using the quadratic programming framework. This allows the proposed method to directly estimate the glottal flow of speech, which mitigates the problem of non...

Estimation of the voice source from speech pressure signals: evaluation of an inverse filtering technique using physical modelling of voice production.

OBJECTIVE The goal of the study is to use physical modelling of voice production to assess the performance of an inverse filtering method in estimating the glottal flow from acoustic speech pressure signals. METHODS An automatic inverse filtering method is presented, and speech pressure signals are generated using physical modelling of voice production so as to obtain test vowels with a known...

A comparative study of glottal source estimation techniques

Source-tract decomposition (or glottal flow estimation) is one of the basic problems of speech processing. For this, several techniques have been proposed in the literature. However studies comparing different approaches are almost nonexistent. Besides, experiments have been systematically performed either on synthetic speech or on sustained vowels. In this study we compare three of the main re...
